On January 25th, 1947, Al Capone died in his Miami Beach home surrounded by family and friends. Rather than getting gunned down in the street, as he had feared, he passed away from stroke complications—probably aided and abetted by an advanced case of syphilis, which had gotten worse while he was in prison. He was only 48.
Check out this article that the New York Daily News reprinted from 1947 about Al’s death, which sums up his life rather well.
Always interesting reading materials from the era.
Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
